I helped to launch Skills Place Newham, our retail, hospitality and leisure academy based in Westfield Stratford City. It was a great opportunity to meet many of the retailers such as John Lewis and talk about employment and training opportunities for local people.
This brand new training facility was a condition of our agreement to grant Westfield planning permission for the Stratford City development and we have now appointed Seetec, one of the UK’s leading providers of training and employment services, to run the academy
We have thousands of people that have never worked before but want to work. Retail, hospitality, leisure and customer care are professions that people want to enter and aspire to and this facility will help them to do this.
Having an onsite training facility at Europe’s largest urban shopping centre means we can offer a seamless service to employers and get more of our residents into work.
